u&u Recruitment Partners are pleased to partner with a large, complex financial institution in their search for a new Senior Legal Counsel. Our client sits at the intersection of financial services, technology and regulation. This role will suit a lawyer with circa 6+ years PQE from a major firm or similar in-house environment.

Working closely in high-performing legal team of four, reporting to an impressive Head of Legal, this role works closely with senior stakeholders across operations, technology, transformation and clients teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on complex commercial arrangements, including outsourcing, technology and service agreements;

  • Supporting contract performance, disputes, service changes and operational governance frameworks;

  • Interpreting and advising on evolving regulatory requirements;

  • Contributing to the design and uplift of compliance frameworks, policies and risk controls;

  • Partnering with the business to translate regulatory change into practical operational and commercial outcomes;

  • Driving improvements in legal processes, templates and playbooks, including opportunities for automation and AI integration; and

  • Supporting incident response, breach reporting and regulatory engagement.

Candidates with a background in financial services regulation and commercial contracting will be highly regarded. A strong understanding of APRA, ASIC and AFSL environments will assist.
