The Role
This is a senior, varied and hands on Legal Secretary and Practice Manager role where you will be responsible for the smooth running of the firm. You will manage a team of paralegals and play a key role in the day-to-day operations of a busy family law practice. Your responsibilities will include:
File management, indexing documents and collating financial disclosure documents;
Collating and updating court documents and drafting correspondence;
Opening new client files physically and electronically and archiving completed files;
Management of new client enquiries and preparation of costs agreements;
Accounts receivable and payable, monthly invoicing and debtor management;
Trust fund and litigation funds management;
Management and supervision of paralegals; and
Organisation of staff functions and events.
About You
This role calls for someone who is not only experienced in legal secretary/practice management but who also brings strong leadership skills and an empathy for clients going through what can be a very difficult time in their lives.
Proven experience in a senior practice management or legal assistant role, ideally within family law;
Proficient in LEAP;
Strong people management skills with the ability to lead, mentor and support a team;
Solid understanding of family law processes and court procedures;
Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities;
A warm, empathetic and professional approach to clients and colleagues alike; and
A team player who thrives in a collaborative, close knit environment.
