We’re working with a global fintech in the electronic trading space, known for delivering low-latency trading infrastructure to banks, brokerages, and hedge funds. With strong growth globally and a high-performing engineering culture, they’re expanding their Sydney team.
They’re looking for two Senior Operations (Applications) Engineer to sit at the heart of their production environment, owning incident management, client implementations, and platform performance across real-time trading systems.
The Role
This is a senior, client-facing operations role where you’ll take ownership of:
Major incident management across live trading environments;
End-to-end client implementations (deployment, configuration, go-live);
Investigating trade execution & market data issues across logs, metrics, and message flows;
Driving improvements across monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and operational processes;
Leading post-incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives; and
Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team capability.
You’ll be working in a high-pressure, real-time environment, where strong technical judgement and communication are key.
What They’re Looking For
5+ years in production support within trading / fintech / financial markets;
Strong troubleshooting across systems, networking (TCP/IP), and applications;
Experience with incident management, deployments, and client-facing environments;
Ability to analyse complex, multi-system issues under pressure; and
Experience improving processes, tooling, and operational maturity.
Nice to have
FIX protocol / trading connectivity;
MetaTrader (MT4/MT5);
SQL (Postgres/MySQL);
Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell); and
Experience with monitoring tools or containerised environments.
