u&u. Recruitment Partners is proudly assisting the Department of Housing and Public Works – Public Works, Major Projects to source an experienced AO6 Site Representative for a major project assignment in Brisbane. This team works across government, the private sector and the community to deliver complex capital works that create positive economic and social outcomes across Queensland. The division contributes to major infrastructure delivery in sectors including housing, health, education, transport and planning.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on site-based role supporting the delivery of major construction projects on behalf of Public Works and other government agencies. Acting as the Principal’s primary on-site presence, you will provide day-to-day oversight of contractor activities, monitor construction quality and progress and ensure works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications and relevant standards. The role will see you working closely with the Principal’s Representative, Senior Project Manager and Executive Project Director across a range of complex capital works projects.

This opportunity will suit a practical, commercially astute construction professional who is confident working autonomously on site while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and disciplined project oversight.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide full-time on-site supervision on behalf of the Principal’s Representative during construction;

  • Inspect works in progress and verify that workmanship and materials meet required standards and approved documentation;

  • Monitor project scope, quality and compliance across on-site and off-site works;

  • Oversee audit, inspection and testing processes at Practical Completion, including defects and as-built documentation;

  • Track construction progress against the contract programme and prepare detailed reports for the Principal’s Representative; and

  • Monitor environmental and WHS controls and assist with payment assessment inspections alongside the Audit Quantity Surveyor.

Required Experience

We are seeking an experienced site-based construction professional with strong commercial judgement, the confidence to engage with contractors and consultants on significant capital works and the ability to maintain high standards of compliance, reporting and communication.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience, skills and knowledge in large, complex building construction works;

  • Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to engage with consultants and contractors on projects of significant value;

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, maintain discipline in project oversight and report issues and delays clearly;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and professional interpersonal style; and

  • A valid open driver’s licence.

Highly regarded:

  • Knowledge of Managing Contractor forms of contract or other design and construct contract models.

Benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to major government infrastructure projects in a role with real on-site influence and visibility. You’ll join a high-performing Major Projects team, work across complex and meaningful capital works and bring your expertise to a role where quality, judgement and stakeholder management are highly valued. With a strong hourly rate and potential extension, this contract offers both immediate impact and the chance to further strengthen your profile across the Queensland Government infrastructure space.
