We are representing a growing education business who are seeking a Solution Architect to design real-world systems end-to-end.
The ideal person will have a strong engineering background to design solutions across a diverse technology landscape. You’ll be the bridge between business goals and technical execution, shaping solutions that span on-premise platforms, SaaS systems, Azure cloud services, data, identity, and cyber security initiatives.
If you love variety, complexity, and working closely with stakeholders, this is a role for you.
Why This Role?
Join a small, highly collaborative architecture team;
Work on meaningful projects: data uplift, finance system uplift, website rebuild, cyber security uplift, SaaS integrations, and more;
Architect solutions across on-prem (VMware), Azure, and SaaS;
True variety, large projects, smaller initiatives, and everything in between;
Hybrid working with two anchor days (Tuesday & Thursday); and
Salary $180,000 plus + 12.5% super, negotiable for the right candidate.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design end-to-end solutions across applications, data, integration, security, and infrastructure;
Develop architecture artefacts including HLDs, LLDs, integration diagrams, data flows, and security patterns;
Work closely with business stakeholders and a BA to gather requirements and shape solution outcomes;
Understand on-prem constraints and design practical, achievable, real-world solutions;
Engage with engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions can be delivered and supported;
Drive architectural governance, standards, and documentation; and
Provide expert guidance during delivery phases — without being hands-on coding.
What You Bring
Must-Have
Strong engineering background (software, systems, or hybrid);
Proven experience designing on-prem or hybrid solutions;
Good working knowledge of:
VMware / virtualisation;
Active Directory / identity;
Network fundamentals (routing, firewalls, load balancing, DNS);
Azure or AWS cloud services; and
SaaS integration patterns.
Ability to produce high-quality documentation (HLD/LLD, diagrams, reference patterns);
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills — you can translate tech to business; and
Experience working across multiple domains (apps, infra, security, data).
Nice to Have
Experience in mixed or transitional environments (education, government, utilities, enterprise);
Azure certifications;
Exposure to tools like Tenable or other security platforms; and
Experience with data uplift, finance systems, website rebuilds, or cyber uplift projects.
Who Will Succeed Here
This role is perfect for someone who:
Enjoys breadth over narrow specialisation;
Has worked in mixed on-prem + cloud environments;
Thrives in a small team with a lot of variety;
Can switch between business conversations and technical design;
Values practicality over theory; and
Wants to deliver solutions that actually work in the real world.
