A national engineering consultancy has recently expanded its operations and opened a new office in Adelaide. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to bring on an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in temporary works design, construction methodology and sequencing.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer to take ownership of technically complex projects, work closely with contractors on the ground, and play a meaningful role in building the consultancy's presence in South Australia.
The Role:
You will lead the design and delivery of temporary works across a range of technically demanding projects, working closely with site teams, contractors and internal engineers to develop practical, buildable solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the design and documentation of temporary works including formwork, falsework, shoring, propping, crane bases and access platforms;
Develop and advise on construction methodologies and sequencing plans;
Undertake detailed structural analysis to ensure safety, compliance and constructability;
Assess material behaviour and performance under construction-stage conditions;
Conduct site visits, inspections and provide on-the-ground engineering guidance;
Review technical reports, drawings and design calculations for quality and accuracy;
Contribute to tendering, business development and client relationship management; and
Liaise with clients, local authorities and project stakeholders throughout delivery.
About You:
7–10 years' experience in structural engineering with a strong focus on temporary works and construction engineering;
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent);
Solid understanding of Australian standards and construction safety principles;
Proficient in structural analysis software with the ability to produce clear, accurate documentation;
Proven experience delivering practical, buildable solutions under real site constraints;
Strong communication and coordination skills, particularly with contractors and site teams;
Established professional relationships with clients or stakeholders in South Australia or a track record of building them; and
Based in Adelaide or willing to relocate.
