Matt is the Principal leading the consulting engineering practice at u&u. He has worked in engineering recruitment since 2014, initially in the maritime industry, and has focused on recruiting civil and structural engineers, drafters, and designers across Australia's East Coast since 2017.
At u&u, he specialises in recruiting permanent and temporary consultants across civil and structural engineering on behalf of engineering and management consultancies as well as state and local government. Matt helps recently graduated engineering professionals and business leaders take the next step in their careers, with deep networks in QLD, NSW and ACT.
Matt is Chair of BuildingPride QLD, a not-for-profit community organisation focused on improving diversity, equality, and visibility for LGBTQIA+ people within the property, engineering, and construction industries. He has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the FutureNet NSW and QLD committees, respectively, since 2018, helping young professionals in the built and natural environment build networks and develop professional skills.
Drinks of choice – Depending on the occasion: a heavy red wine, a G&T or a classic Margarita.
My favourite travel destination: Anywhere with a theme park - the bigger the rollercoasters are, the better.
The best advice you’ve ever been given: Life (and working in recruitment…) is a marathon of sprints, so if you lose one sprint it doesn’t mean you’re out of the marathon. Pick yourself up and move on to the next sprint.
Last meal on earth: The biggest eye fillet steak that ever existed, with onion rings, bacon mac and cheese and fries with a glass, or three, of Malbec.
