It is information or an opinion about you, including racial or ethnic origin; political opinions; membership of a political association; religious beliefs of affiliations; philosophical beliefs; membership of a professional or trade association; membership of a trade union; sexual orientation or practices; or criminal record. According to this Australian Privacy Act 1988, in most cases, we will only collect or disclose sensitive information with your explicit consent.
How do we collect personal information?
In most circumstances, we collect your personal and sensitive information from you directly, for example in person, in writing, by email, or over the telephone. We will also aim to obtain your personal information from third parties for verification and vetting purposes such as referees, educational institutions, professional associations and past employers.
