About the Company

South Bank Corporation is the renowned place manager behind Brisbane's premier recreational, cultural, educational and entertainment precinct. With a vision to be a world-leading urban precinct that welcomes, engages and inspires, we are committed to innovating, managing and maintaining our enviable reputation while recognising the growing demand for green space in Brisbane's inner city.

As Brisbane prepares to host Brisbane 2032, South Bank Corporation plays a pivotal role in ensuring our iconic precinct is ready to showcase Brisbane and Queensland on the world stage. This Strategic Planner role presents an opportunity to be part of planning to position South Bank that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

About the Role

South Bank Corporation is on a journey to lift the maturity of how we manage and understand our assets, and we are looking for an Asset Data Analyst to help turn our growing asset information into meaningful insight.

This is an embedded role within the Asset & Infrastructure team. You'll be the person the team turns to when they need to understand what the data is telling us, develop a dashboard, analyse a problem, improve a report or turn a messy dataset into something useful.

If you genuinely enjoy working with data, building dashboards, finding patterns and making information easier for people to understand, this could be the role for you.

While an understanding of asset management, asset information systems or infrastructure would be highly regarded, we're more interested in your ability to work with data, solve problems and turn information into insight.

Key Focus Areas

Data Analytics and Insight

  • Analyse asset, maintenance, condition, financial and operational data to identify trends, patterns, issues and opportunities;

  • Develop analysis and insights that support asset management and infrastructure decision-making;

  • Respond to business questions with clear, evidence-based analysis;

  • Develop analytical models to support lifecycle planning, renewal, maintenance and investment decisions; and

  • Identify data anomalies, gaps and trends that require further investigation.

Power BI and Reporting

  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve Power BI dashboards and reports;

  • Build clear and intuitive visualisations that make complex information easy to understand;

  • Develop asset performance KPIs and reporting frameworks;

  • Automate recurring reports and reduce manual data manipulation;

  • Tailor reporting to the needs of operational teams, managers and senior leaders; and

  • Continuously identify opportunities to make reporting more useful, efficient and insightful.

Data Management and Quality

  • Maintain and improve key asset and infrastructure datasets;

  • Undertake data cleansing, validation and quality assurance;

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated spreadsheets, analytical models and data tools;

  • Improve the consistency, accuracy and reliability of information used by the Asset & Infrastructure team;

  • Develop repeatable processes for collecting, manipulating, analysing and reporting data; and

  • Work with system owners and other business areas to resolve data quality issues.

Asset Management Support

  • Support asset managers with data and analysis for lifecycle planning, maintenance, renewal and investment decisions;

  • Analyse asset condition, risk, criticality, performance and expenditure;

  • Support the development and monitoring of asset management KPIs;

  • Provide data analysis to support business cases, investment decisions and strategic planning; and

  • Help translate operational information into useful management information.

Continuous Improvement

  • Look for opportunities to automate manual analysis and reporting;

  • Develop new analytical tools and approaches in response to emerging business needs;

  • Improve how the Asset & Infrastructure team captures, manages and uses information;

  • Work with IT, Finance, GIS and other teams to improve data flows and reporting; and

  • Stay curious about new analytical tools, technologies and approaches that could improve the way we work.

About You

You're someone who loves data.

You enjoy getting into a spreadsheet, working out how datasets fit together, finding the story in the numbers and then building something that helps other people understand it.

You will bring:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills and a genuine enthusiasm for working with data;

  • Strong Power BI capability, including data modelling, analysis and visualisation;

  • Experience developing dashboards and reports that people actually use; and

  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data quality.
