About the organisation

Since 1998, Volunteering Gold Coast (VGC) has connected people with their community through volunteering and community transport. It supports more than 100 not-for-profit member organisations to recruit and manage volunteers, and it runs community transport across the Gold Coast, Logan and Tweed regions. Its services include door-to-door transport for older people, NDIS participants and people undergoing cancer treatment, and an aged care volunteer visitor program.

With 38 staff and 200 volunteers working side by side, VGC's transport services are funded through programs including My Aged Care, the NDIS and the Queensland Community Support Scheme. Volunteering sits at the heart of VGC's work, and its values of inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, fearlessness and impact shape how the organisation operates.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role in a lean organisation. Working with a dedicated Transport Manager, you will oversee and optimise VGC's transport services while leading its culture, brand, partnerships and growth. Reporting to a skills-based Board, you will:

  • Oversee and optimise community transport services, lifting efficiency and growing funded services;

  • Build a positive, healthy culture following a period of change;

  • Manage government funding efficiently while pursuing alternative income streams, such as sponsorship, partnerships and fee-for-service;

  • Strengthen the VGC brand and raise its profile across the Gold Coast community, government and industry;

  • Build relationships with sponsors, partners, funders and all levels of government; and

  • Oversee the implementation of a new volunteering CRM.

About you

You are a visible, energetic leader who is as comfortable in operations as you are in front of stakeholders. You will bring:

  • Senior executive experience, ideally in a socially responsible organisation;

  • Strong financial management skills in a funding-dependent environment;

  • A strong understanding of PR, brand building and advocacy, while remaining politically neutral;

  • A proven ability to network and build sponsorship relationships;

  • A track record of building healthy workplace cultures;

  • Confidence with technology and system implementations;

  • Empathy, and an understanding of what it takes to work well with volunteers; and

  • A current driver’s licence.

Experience in logistics, community transport, aged care, disability services, volunteering or the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
