About the Company
Fleetwood Australia is a leading innovator in the modular construction and manufacturing sector, delivering cutting-edge building solutions across key critical markets. We're at the forefront of modern methods of construction (MMC), combining advanced manufacturing techniques with sustainable design principles to meet the evolving needs of our customers and deliver successful construction projects.
At Fleetwood, we foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence, where diverse teams come together to solve complex challenges and deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients across residential, commercial, and government sectors.
About the Role
Fleetwood is looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead a team of Design documenters and drive project delivery across our diverse building portfolio.
Reporting into senior leadership, you'll oversee day-to-day team operations across multiple regions — managing priorities, resource allocation, reviewing documentation for technical accuracy, and ensuring design outputs meet project specifications, building codes, and company standards. You'll work closely with estimating, steel, and sales teams throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to project reviews, identifying risks, and spotting value-add opportunities.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll set the standard for quality, establish workflows, drive continuous improvement, and mentor team leaders to get the best out of their people.
About You
You're a design manager professional who has extensive experience in the building and construction industry. You understand how design decisions flow through to cost, programme, and on-site outcomes, and you know how to lead a team under real delivery pressure.
You'll bring:
Proven experience managing design teams within a head contractor or commercial construction environment;
Strong working knowledge of building codes, regulatory standards, good building practice and commercial construction documentation;
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without dropping the ball on quality or compliance;
Confidence engaging with internal stakeholders, clients, and external consultants;
A track record of developing people and building high-performing teams; and
An understanding of estimating processes would be highly regarded for precontract works.
If you're ready to step into this leadership role with a well-established business and make a genuine impact on how design is delivered, please apply now.
