About the Role
COEX is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead – Recycling Infrastructure to provide technical leadership across the development, validation and delivery of recycling machinery and infrastructure projects. Working within the Operations Improvement function, this role is responsible for ensuring engineering solutions are technically robust, commercially viable and operationally effective across a geographically dispersed network. Partnering closely with project delivery, procurement and operational teams, you will provide engineering governance, technical assurance and supplier oversight to support successful infrastructure investment and long-term operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Include
Provide end-to-end engineering leadership across recycling machinery and infrastructure projects, including design validation, technical assurance and final engineering approval,
Lead the development of business cases, investment analysis and engineering recommendations to support strategic infrastructure decisions;
Develop and refine technical specifications for recycling equipment and infrastructure, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable and fit for purpose;
Establish engineering trial frameworks, performance metrics and validation processes to assess new technologies and operational outcomes;
Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery, from concept and procurement through to implementation and operational handover;
Partner with procurement teams to develop technical requirements, evaluate suppliers and ensure machinery compliance and certification requirements are achieved;
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors, providing trusted technical advice across the organization;
Translate engineering decisions into operational and commercial outcomes, improving efficiency, performance and whole-of-life asset value;
Ensure engineering activities are delivered safely and in accordance with governance, risk and compliance requirements; and
Drive continuous improvement across engineering standards, technical processes and infrastructure delivery practices.
About You
You are an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in industrial machinery, processing facilities or complex infrastructure environments. You combine technical expertise with commercial awareness and enjoy working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical engineering solutions that improve operational performance. With excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a solutions-focused mindset, you are confident influencing decisions and providing technical leadership across complex projects.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
Demonstrated experience delivering engineering outcomes across industrial machinery, manufacturing, processing or infrastructure environments;
Strong understanding of engineering design, technical assurance, validation and compliance processes;
Experience developing technical specifications, evaluating suppliers and supporting procurement activities;
Proven capability preparing business cases, cost-benefit analysis and engineering investment recommendations;
Experience supporting capital infrastructure or machinery projects from concept through to implementation;
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence across technical and operational teams; and
Ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card and a satisfactory criminal history check.
