This established infrastructure organisation operates a network of regional sites across Queensland and is undergoing a period of transformation under new ownership. An opportunity exists for an experienced Environment Manager to step into an initial short-term contract, providing leadership across environmental planning, compliance, and regulatory activities within a complex operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead environmental planning, approvals, and compliance activities across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with master plans and development projects;
Oversee PFAS management programs, liaising with regulators and technical specialists to support ongoing investigations and mitigation strategies;
Interpret environmental legislation and conduct compliance gap analyses, ensuring adherence to Commonwealth and state regulatory frameworks;
Lead the coordination of ecological, vegetation, and cultural heritage assessments and surveys to support current and future infrastructure developments;
Manage external contractors and consultants, ensuring deliverables are met, risks are identified early, and works are completed to standard; and
Prepare, review, and submit detailed regulatory reports, maintaining strong relationships with government and key stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
You are a confident and pragmatic environmental professional who thrives in complex, regulated environments. You bring a hands-on approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to quickly step into a leadership role, providing stability, guidance, and technical expertise from day one.
Strong background in environmental planning, ecology, or environmental management within a regulated environment;
Sound knowledge of the EPBC Act and relevant Commonwealth and state environmental legislation;
Proven ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it in a practical, operational context;
Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing a broad range of internal and external stakeholders; and
Experience leading or mentoring team members, with the ability to provide clear direction and oversight.
