About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager who combines strong technical accounting skills with a genuine interest in leading and developing others.

This role offers a balance of hands-on technical work, people leadership and process improvement. You will oversee the delivery of financial reporting, coordinate the external audit and strengthen financial controls, while supporting the team’s day-to-day priorities and ongoing development.

Working closely with senior finance leaders and stakeholders across the business, you will provide clear advice on complex accounting matters and identify opportunities to improve how the financial accounting function operates.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing the financial accounting team, setting clear expectations and supporting performance through regular coaching and feedback;

• Overseeing the preparation of financial statements, statutory reporting and disclosures, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance;

• Providing technical accounting advice, including interpreting Australian Accounting Standards and assessing their application to complex transactions;

• Coordinating the external audit process, managing deliverables and working with auditors and internal stakeholders to resolve matters promptly;

• Developing and strengthening financial control frameworks, including testing, monitoring and addressing identified gaps;

• Reviewing financial policies and procedures to ensure they remain appropriate and support consistent practices;

• Driving improvements in reporting processes, systems and controls to increase efficiency and quality; and

• Building effective relationships across the business and translating technical requirements into practical guidance.

About you

You will bring an external audit foundation, followed by experience in industry where you have developed your financial accounting and leadership capability. You are comfortable working through technical detail, making sound decisions and guiding others through complex issues.

Alongside your technical strengths, you will be an approachable leader who provides direction, builds confidence and holds the team accountable. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and creating an environment where others can develop.

You will ideally have:

• CA or CPA qualifications;

• A background in external audit, ideally gained within a Big 4 or mid-tier firm;

• Subsequent industry experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Accounting Manager or similar leadership role;

• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and experience overseeing statutory financial reporting;

• Experience managing external audits and improving financial controls;

• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing a finance team;

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders; and

• A hands-on approach, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
