A hands-on management accounting role with real ownership and a voice in business strategy.
We’re partnering with an established Australian group to appoint an FP&A Lead based in Brisbane CBD.
With several businesses under its umbrella, this opportunity offers variety, close involvement with business leaders and the chance to put your stamp on financial planning and reporting. You’ll help managers understand what’s driving results, where improvements can be made and how to plan for the future.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll own budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting across the group. Alongside delivering management accounts and commercial insights, you’ll develop practical tools and reporting that give leaders and the Board a clearer view of business performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning budgets and forecasts, working with business managers to challenge assumptions and develop realistic plans;
Preparing management accounts and performance reports with clear commentary on results, variances and opportunities;
Building Excel models and meaningful metrics to support planning and decision-making;
Developing and rolling out department level tracking to improve visibility of costs and performance;
Analysing overheads, margins and profitability, identifying opportunities for improvement;
Partnering with managers to translate financial information into practical recommendations;
Contributing financial insights, scenario analysis and reporting to support strategy and Board discussions; and
Improving reporting processes, systems and outputs across the group.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have a strong grounding in management accounting or FP&A, advanced Excel skills and an interest in understanding how a business operates. You’ll enjoy taking ownership, improving the way things are done and building relationships with stakeholders outside finance.
We’re looking for:
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and commercial analysis;
Strong Excel capability, including building and improving financial models and reporting tools;
The confidence to question assumptions and explain financial results clearly;
A proactive approach to developing useful reporting and performance measures;
Strong communication and business partnering skills;
A finance-related degree, with CA or CPA qualifications preferred; and
ERP and reporting systems experience; NetSuite exposure would be highly regarded.
Why consider this role?
This is an opportunity to own a broad remit and see the impact of your work. You’ll have scope to bring ideas, build better reporting and work closely with leaders on decisions that influence costs, profitability and future direction.
