Are you an experienced ICT Portfolio Analyst who enjoys turning complex information into clear insights that help senior leaders make better investment decisions?
We are seeking an ICT Portfolio Analyst to join a government department on a 12-month contract, supporting the establishment and maturation of its enterprise ICT Portfolio capability.
This is an opportunity to work at an enterprise level, looking across the broader Information Services environment to understand what is happening now, what is coming next, where the gaps and pressures are and where investment is needed.
The opportunity
You will work closely with Information Services teams, project and delivery leads, business stakeholders, finance and governance forums to develop a clear, evidence-based view of the department's ICT landscape.
Rather than simply reporting on projects, you will help connect the dots across demand, investment, capability, risks, dependencies, benefits and delivery capacity to support better portfolio planning and funding decisions.
Your work will help senior leaders understand where the organisation needs to invest, why that investment is required and what outcomes it will deliver.
What you'll be doing:
Develop and maintain an enterprise view of current, planned and emerging ICT initiatives, capability needs and investment opportunities;
Analyse ICT demand, business needs, investment drivers, risks, dependencies, benefits and delivery readiness;
Identify capability gaps, duplication, emerging pressures and constraints that may influence investment priorities;
Support ICT business and investment planning, assessing strategic alignment, urgency, value for money, benefits and delivery capacity;
Develop high-quality investment summaries, briefing papers, executive reports and funding inputs;
Develop and refine portfolio templates, registers, roadmaps and planning artefacts; and
Provide analysis and recommendations that strengthen portfolio governance, pipeline visibility and investment decision-making.
You'll ideally bring:
Strong experience in ICT portfolio analysis, portfolio planning, investment planning or a similar enterprise technology environment;
The ability to analyse complex information and turn it into clear, meaningful insights and recommendations;
Experience supporting business cases, funding submissions, investment decisions or portfolio prioritisation;
Strong understanding of ICT delivery, dependencies, risks, benefits and organisational capability;
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare executive-level briefings and investment papers;
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to work across technical teams, business stakeholders, finance and senior leadership; and
Experience developing portfolio frameworks, reporting, registers, roadmaps or planning processes.
Why this role?
This is a great opportunity to join an organisation where you have the opportunity to influence how ICT demand is understood, how investment priorities are assessed and how senior leaders make decisions about the department's technology future.
If you are an experienced ICT Portfolio Analyst who enjoys connecting the dots, challenging the information in front of you and turning data and analysis into meaningful investment decisions, we'd love to hear from you.
