About the Organisation
Container Exchange (COEX) is the not-for-profit organisation responsible for delivering Queensland's Containers for Change scheme. Since launching in 2018, COEX has played a leading role in reducing container litter, increasing recycling rates and creating positive environmental, social and economic outcomes for communities across the state.
As the scheme continues to evolve, COEX is investing in the next generation of recycling infrastructure and technology to improve network capability and operational performance. This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation committed to innovation, sustainability and delivering long-term environmental outcomes for Queensland.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Improvement Manager, the Operations Improvement Lead supports the implementation of approved continuous improvement projects across the Operations division. You will help translate approved initiatives into practical delivery plans, coordinate project activities, maintain documentation and support stakeholders through implementation and transition into business-as-usual operations.
Working across operational teams, internal functions, network partners and suppliers, you will provide hands-on coordination, analysis and implementation support to help ensure improvements are delivered consistently, safely and effectively. The role is focused on supporting delivery rather than independently leading complex initiatives, with an emphasis on keeping actions moving, maintaining clear documentation and helping operational teams adopt agreed changes. Key responsibilities include:
Support the implementation of approved continuous improvement projects in line with agreed scope, timelines, risks and success measures;
Coordinate project activities, actions, dependencies and deliverables to help improvement initiatives progress through implementation and transition;
Maintain project documentation, action registers, implementation plans, meeting notes and status updates to support clear governance;
Work with operational teams to understand impacts, readiness requirements, process changes and implementation risks;
Support the development of practical implementation materials, including process guides, transition checklists, communication materials and training inputs;
Assist with coordinating operational trials, site-level activities, supplier engagement and stakeholder briefings required to embed approved changes;
Track implementation progress, risks, issues and actions, escalating matters to the Operations Improvement Manager where required;
Support benefits tracking by collecting operational data, monitoring agreed measures and documenting implementation outcomes;
Build effective working relationships with operational teams, internal functions, network partners, suppliers and other stakeholders involved in implementation; and
Coordinate meetings, workshops and briefings to support alignment, issue resolution and adoption of approved improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a practical and organised project, operations or continuous improvement professional who enjoys working with people and helping turn plans into outcomes. You are comfortable coordinating multiple activities, working with frontline and operational stakeholders and keeping projects moving, with the ability to identify issues, organise information and provide clear updates to those responsible for delivery.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in business, operations, project management, continuous improvement or a related field preferred;
Experience supporting project implementation, operational improvement, change coordination, process improvement or business support activities in an operational environment;
Experience working in operational, industrial, engineering, logistics, infrastructure or other asset-intensive environments where changes need to be planned and embedded safely;
Demonstrated ability to work with frontline, technical and operational stakeholders to understand practical constraints, implementation risks and site-level impacts;
Strong coordination and project support capability, including action tracking, status reporting, documentation and follow-up;
Ability to gather and organise operational information, analyse issues and prepare clear summaries, registers and implementation materials;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and the ability to build effective working relationships; and
Drivers licence, flexibility to travel intrastate including remote locations, and ability to obtain a Blue Card and maintain a satisfactory criminal history check.
