Our client is a well-established industrial and electrical supplies business that has been supplying electrical maintenance contractors in the utilities and construction/industrial sector for over two decades. The organisation has an impressive history of continual growth, and they offer their clients a large, diverse product offering consisting of leading brands of tools of equipment, machinery and engineering services, coupled with a strong commitment to customer service and providing fit for purpose solutions that make their clients job easier.
The Role
Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the position will operate as part of a small team in Perth and will focus on the management, acquisition and continual growth of customer accounts in the utilities, mining, rail and broader industrial sectors throughout Western Australia.
More specifically, you will be involved in the following
Developing and executing sales strategies to target key accounts throughout Western Australia;
Maintaining professional relationships with the relevant key decision makers in current and target organisations;
Researching, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in target market sectors (e.g. utilities, mining, industrial and infrastructure);
Developing a keen understanding of your customers business and providing recommendations and advice that’s adds value;
Providing technical product support and training to current and prospective clients;
Identifying and developing new product and market opportunities;
Producing fortnightly sales activity reports and participating in fortnightly sales meetings;
Representing the organisation at tradeshows, conferences, and other relevant industry events; and
Monitoring competitors’ landscape and reporting relevant information back to the organisation.
Required Experience
5+ years’ experience in a similar sales / business development role, preferably within the industrial electrical or a related area;
A professional, yet down to earth and consultative approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Electrical trade or relevant technical knowledge (mechanical or electrical) would be an asset;
Prior experience selling a technical product or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn;
Demonstrated territory management and account management skills;
Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to grow sales and win new business;
Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills;
Strong time management skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team;
Experience with modern CRM’s and other office technology tools; and
Willing to travel one week per month.
