A leading Queensland organisation is seeking an experienced Rehabilitation & Return to Work Advisor to join their Workplace Health & Safety function on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on, end-to-end injury management role where you will manage a portfolio of internal claims while driving early intervention, recovery-at-work strategies and continuous improvement across RTW practices.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end internal workers’ compensation claims from notification through to return to work or claim resolution;
Triage injury notifications and implement early intervention strategies to support positive recovery outcomes;
Develop, implement and review tailored Return to Work (RTW) plans in line with legislative requirements;
Coordinate suitable duties, workplace adjustments and graduated return to work programs;
Act as the primary liaison between employees, leaders, insurers, medical practitioners and rehabilitation providers;
Provide expert advice to managers on injury management, legislative obligations and suitable duties;
Monitor and analyse injury management data, trends and performance metrics, preparing reports for stakeholders; and
Escalate complex or high-risk cases while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, confidentiality and procedural fairness.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a confident and pragmatic injury management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, stakeholder-driven environment. You bring a strong understanding of workers’ compensation from an employer perspective and can balance compliance with empathy and commercial outcomes.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in workplace rehabilitation, injury management or RTW coordination;
Strong knowledge of Queensland workers’ compensation and WHS legislation;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple claims concurrently, including complex cases;
Experience developing and implementing effective RTW plans and recovery strategies;
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes;
Ability to interpret and manage matters through a HR / employment relations lens; and
Experience preparing formal written responses and managing sensitive employment matters.
