Our client is a Queensland organisation with a proud history and vibrant culture, where staff are highly respected and valued. Reporting to the Director of Risk, Compliance and Assurance, they are seeking a Risk and Safety Advisor to help strengthen the organisation’s safety culture and support the development of risk and compliance frameworks.
About the role
Working within a close-knit team, your core responsibilities will include:
Support risk and incident management by assisting with risk assessments, maintaining risk registers and coordinating hazard and incident reporting processes;
Assist WHS operations including responding to WHS queries, supporting inspections and investigations and helping maintain the WHS Management System;
Contribute to compliance activities by maintaining compliance registers, assisting audits and accreditation and monitoring legislative and regulatory requirements;
Support emergency and business continuity processes including plan maintenance, drills and staff preparedness activities;
Prepare safety and compliance documentation such as reports, policy updates, data insights and records to support informed decision-making; and
Support delivery of training by assisting with WHS, risk and compliance training sessions and capability-building workshops.
About the person
To be successful in this role you will have:
Relevant qualifications or experience in risk management, governance, WHS or a related discipline;
Knowledge of WHS and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply risk management principles and best practices;
Experience conducting or supporting risk assessments and incident investigations to support continuous improvement and compliance;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify risks and develop effective controls;
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and influence across the organisation; and
Ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism, maintaining confidentiality, sound judgment and high personal accountability.
