u&u Recruitment Partners is proud to be partnering with Verus, a specialist safety, assurance, and advisory consultancy, to appoint a Senior HSW Advisor to join their growing Queensland team.

Operating for over 12 years, Verus partners with some of Australia’s largest organisations and national brands to deliver practical, high-quality safety solutions across complex and high risk operational environments.

With an exciting growth strategy underway, this is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional looking to build a rewarding consulting career within a highly respected, agile and growing organisation.

The Opportunity

This role will suit a well-rounded health and safety professional who enjoys working across both technical assurance and broader advisory consulting. It offers a balanced mix of structured audit work and client-facing consulting engagements, with approximately 50% focused on audit and assurance activities such as audits, systems reviews and critical risk assessments.

The remaining component of the role will see you working directly with clients on advisory and improvement initiatives, supporting the uplift of safety systems, leadership capability and risk maturity across diverse industries.

Working closely with experienced Directors, you will gain exposure to high profile clients, complex operational environments and varied project work across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ISO:45001 aligned audits for various organisations;

  • Undertake safety management system reviews and assurance assessments;

  • Contribute to critical risk reviews and targeted assurance programs;

  • Support the development of client safety strategies and improvement initiatives;

  • Facilitate leadership interviews, workshops and cultural engagement activities;

  • Assist with proposals, client submissions and consulting deliverables;

  • Work across complex, high-risk operational environments; and

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the consultancy.

About You

Verus is seeking a well-rounded and adaptable safety professional who enjoys working across both the technical and strategic aspects of health and safety. This role will suit someone who is commercially aware, naturally curious and motivated by helping organisations build stronger, more effective safety systems.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Broad-based experience across health and safety in a generalist capacity;

  • Strong understanding of risk management and assurance principles;

  • Experience working within complex or high-risk operational environments;

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability; and

  • A genuine interest in auditing, systems effectiveness and assurance work.

You will be comfortable interpreting organisational risk maturity and adapting your approach to meet clients where they are at, providing practical and commercially balanced solutions. Verus is looking for someone who is agile in thinking, collaborative in style and genuinely motivated to help clients improve their health and safety performance.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • Lead Auditor qualification highly regarded, ideally with exposure to Exemplar Global or similar assurance frameworks;

  • Experience with formal audit programs such as PQC and/or FSC auditing standards will be well regarded; and

  • Minimum undergraduate qualification in WHS or a related discipline, with broader qualifications in business, governance, risk or operational disciplines highly desirable.

Why Join Verus?

This is an opportunity to join a growing consultancy where you will work closely with experienced and passionate Directors and gain exposure to high-impact client work. You will be supported in developing your consulting capability while enjoying some flexibility and autonomy in how you work.

You can expect:

  • Exposure to nationally recognised organisations and complex projects;

  • Strong mentorship from highly experienced consulting Directors;

  • Flexible working arrangements with autonomy and trust;

  • A genuine opportunity to help shape a growing consultancy business;

  • Long-term career development that aligns with your passions across risk, assurance, advisory work or other aspects of consulting; and

  • Diverse and meaningful project work with real impact.
