About the Organisation
Our client is a well-established personal insurance organisation based in Queensland, known for the strength and longevity of its relationships with the businesses it protects. As part of continued investment in how it supports and retains its client base, the organisation is looking for a Senior Manager to lead its Client Retention and Engagement function.
About the Role
This is a leadership role rather than a sales role. You'll lead a team of Relationship Managers responsible for existing client accounts, ensuring clients realise genuine value from the partnership, remain closely attuned to their evolving needs, and help build the trust required to sustain long-term relationships. The focus of the role, and the team, is on retention and authentic partnership rather than the pursuit of new business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of Relationship Managers, coaching them to proactively add value to existing client relationships;
Own the strategy for client retention, ensuring clients remain engaged, supported and satisfied over the long term;
Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across client organisations;
Monitor client and portfolio-level trends, using these to inform how the team engages with and supports clients;
Represent the organisation confidently in strategic conversations with clients and their advisers; and
Work closely with internal stakeholders across operations, claims, and governance functions to ensure a consistent and high-quality client experience.
About You
Proven experience leading a team of Relationship Managers or Account Managers, with a clear track record of client retention rather than new business acquisition;
A background in insurance, financial services, or another regulated, client-facing industry;
A genuine, consultative approach to client management, rather than a transactional or sales-driven style;
Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, both internally and externally; and
Strong people leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and support a team.
Why Apply
This is a genuine opportunity to lead a client-focused function within a well-regarded and stable organisation, with real scope to shape how the team engages with and retains its client base. If you're a relationship-focused leader who'd rather build trust with existing clients than chase the next deal, this role offers the chance to do exactly that.
