Join a large organisation delivering essential services across Queensland, in this 12-month contract. This role will be Brisbane CBD based, with travel to operational sites, and will see you lead high-impact operational safety initiatives, providing expert advice and influencing senior stakeholders to uplift safety performance, systems, and risk management maturity.
Key Responsibilities
Lead complex, high-risk operational safety initiatives, translating strategic objectives into practical, field-ready solutions that drive measurable improvements;
Provide authoritative technical advice on operational safety risks, critical controls, and assurance activities to support informed decision-making;
Analyse safety performance data to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, and continuous improvement opportunities across multiple operational environments;
Support the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of safety frameworks, systems, procedures, and assurance processes;
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, operational teams, and safety professionals to influence outcomes and embed best practice; and
Lead projects and work programs end-to-end, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders while mentoring and coaching advisors to uplift capability.
The Successful Candidate
You are a seasoned safety professional with strong operational experience and the ability to influence at senior levels without formal authority. You bring a strategic mindset, balanced with a hands-on approach, and thrive in complex, high-risk environments where sound judgement is critical.
Key Requirements
Demonstrated experience in operational safety within complex, multi-site or high-risk environments, ideally within large organisations;
Advanced analytical capability, with experience interpreting safety data, identifying trends, and translating insights into actionable improvements;
Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership;
Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports, briefings, and recommendations;
Experience leading or coordinating projects and initiatives, delivering outcomes within tight timeframes and competing priorities; and
High level of professional judgement, resilience, and emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and sensitive or contentious issues.
