About the Company
South Bank Corporation is the renowned place manager behind Brisbane's premier recreational, cultural, educational and entertainment precinct. With a vision to be a world-leading urban precinct that welcomes, engages and inspires, we are committed to innovating, managing and maintaining our enviable reputation while recognising the growing demand for green space in Brisbane's inner city.
As Brisbane prepares to host Brisbane 2032, South Bank Corporation plays a pivotal role in ensuring our iconic precinct is ready to showcase Brisbane and Queensland on the world stage. This presents an opportunity to be part of planning and delivery to position South Bank that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
About the Role
South Bank is one of Brisbane's most iconic precincts and this role sits at the heart of shaping its future. As Strategic Planner, you'll provide expert planning advice across a diverse portfolio spanning development approvals, tenure, sustainability and precinct renewal. You'll lead the periodic review of the Approved Development Plan, work closely with Council and government stakeholders and contribute to delivering the South Bank Master Plan's operational agenda.
Beyond traditional planning work, you'll also champion the Corporation's sustainability strategy, leading internal education and participating in the Green Team to drive environmental outcomes across the organisation. You'll prepare Board papers, represent the Corporation in community and stakeholder engagement and bring a commercial lens to assessing new project opportunities.
This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, can navigate complex regulatory environments and genuinely cares about creating great places for people.
About You
You're a seasoned planning professional with at least 5 – 10 years of experience in strategic planning and development coordination. You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in town planning, architecture, or a related field and you're comfortable operating across the full planning spectrum, from high-level strategy through to technical approvals and compliance.
You write clearly and persuasively, communicate well with a range of stakeholders (from government agencies to community members) and know how to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball. You're someone who takes initiative, works collaboratively and brings curiosity and pragmatism to every challenge.
Experience with statutory planning frameworks, sustainability initiatives, or precinct-scale development would be a real advantage.
