About BCE

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is a faith-filled learning community creating a better future. We teach, challenge and transform through our service, support and leadership for Catholic education – supporting around 80,000 students and 12,500 staff across the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

We’re entering an exciting new chapter. With our 2028 – 2032 strategy about to take shape, this is a pivotal moment to join us – and the Strategy Lead will be right at the heart of it.

The opportunity

Sitting within our Strategy and Transformation team, the Strategy Lead provides system-wide strategic direction, planning and expert advice – ensuring everything we do stays aligned with BCE’s Vision, Mission and Values.

You will lead the development, design, implementation, evaluation and reporting of organisational strategy, working across the organisation to build partnerships, support system-wide growth and drive operational excellence. The first 18 months will be especially collaborative – a discovery and development period, engaging teachers, students and parents to bring our next strategy to life with structure and rigour.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the delivery of strategic objectives that shape our direction and goals, providing expert advice to drive efficiency;

  • Mentor, coach and develop a small, high-performing analyst team – strategic planning knowledge and lifting their capability;

  • Undertake advanced analysis of strategic direction and progress, turning data into insightful, evidence-based recommendations and reporting;

  • Develop, implement and review strategic processes and procedures, including risk planning, contingency and change management;

  • Consult, collaborate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders at every level of the organisation; and

  • Advise on strategic planning frameworks, techniques and processes that connect BCE at both system and school levels.

About you

You are a strategic, systems-level thinker who can simplify complexity, with a flexible working style – someone who brings rigour and structure while delivering in a relationship-based environment. You enjoy engaging people, building alignment and finding clever, creative ways to bring stakeholders along with you.

You will also have:

  • A background that may include strategy or strategic planning, with demonstrated experience applying strategic frameworks and architecture. Management consulting experience will also be considered, ideally with exposure to human services portfolios or for-purpose organisations. Faith-based experience would be highly regarded;

  • 3 – 8 years’ strategy experience;

  • Experience leading a team – with a coaching and mentoring style that develops others;

  • A genuinely data-driven, evidence-based approach – you know how to scope exactly what’s needed to answer the question in front of you;

  • Knowledge and application of strategic frameworks and planning architecture, with proven implementation across a networked organisation;

  • A track record of engaging diverse stakeholders and creating consolidation, cohesion and alignment;

  • Confident preparing and presenting to executive audiences, with clear, robust strategic recommendations;

  • Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively and at ease in a role that challenges the status quo to drive positive change;

  • Helpful, organised and genuinely supportive of your team; and

  • A real respect for and alignment with, BCE’s Catholic identity, Vision, Mission and Values.

Why join BCE

This is a rare chance to influence the strategic direction of one of the largest Catholic education providers in Australia, at a genuinely formative moment. You will join a values-led organisation that believes everyone is a leader, with real scope to make your mark and grow.

What you’ll need:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the period of appointment;

  • Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check as part of pre-employment screening;

  • A current, valid Queensland Driver’s Licence; and

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field are highly regarded.
