We are partnering with a leading Australian financial services organisation to appoint an experienced Workplace Health and Safety Specialist on an initial 3-month contract. This role will provide operational WHS support across a national workforce, managing incidents, investigations, training and operational safety support while contributing to broader safety governance, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert WHS advice and support to leaders, People & Culture teams and employees;
Manage workplace incidents, ensuring timely reporting, investigation and corrective actions;
Conduct incident investigations and identify opportunities for risk mitigation and continuous improvement;
Deliver and coordinate WHS training programs across the organisation;
Work closely with the RTW team to provide support on complex claims;
Facilitate WHS consultation and engagement through safety committees and key stakeholder groups;
Assist with the maintenance of WHS policies, procedures, risk registers and governance frameworks; and
Prepare WHS reports, compliance documentation and submissions for senior leadership and governance forums.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a proactive and solutions-focused WHS professional with strong operational safety experience and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, you bring a sound understanding of Australian WHS legislation, strong case management capabilities and the ability to influence positive safety outcomes across diverse business groups.
Key Requirements:
Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, Human Resources or a related discipline;
Demonstrated experience in WHS operations, including incident management, investigations and risk management;
Similar industry background preferred – financial services, banking or superannuation;
Experience supporting Workers' Compensation, rehabilitation and return-to-work programs;
Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organisation;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation capabilities; and
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
